The third campaign of the Höyücek excavations took place between 23 July and 9 September, 1991; the fourth and final campaign between 6 August and 14 September, 1992. By the end of the 1992 season an area of more than 1100 m2 had been investigated, and because the stratigraphy and nature of the exposed cultures seemed clear, the project was then brought to an end.

The second season of excavations at Höyücek was conducted from July 21 to September 8, 1990. We started the campaign by opening Squares J/5 and J/7-8, which had yielded no architectural features what soever in the previous season. Upon recognizing a fair quantity of architectural remains immediately below the surface, we opted to open Squares K/5-6 as well; we thus worked over an area of 400 m2, removing an overall average of two meters of deposit (PI.1/1). This year we were able to distinguish two architectural phases: "The Sanctuaries Phase" and "The Shrine Phase".

Burdur Bölgesinde 1976 yılında başladığımız arkeolojik araştırmaların ilk bölümünü, geçtiğimiz yıl sonuçlandırıp, Kuruçay Höyüğü kazılarını bitirmiştik. Kuruçay çalışmaları sırasında, bölgenin özellikle güney kesimlerinde yüzey araştırmaları yapmış ve bu arada Bucak ilçesi yakınlarında, birbirinden 2 km. uzaklıktaki iki höyüğü de gezmiştik. Araştırmalar sonunda, kuzeydeki Tepecik Höyüğü'nün yüzeyinde fazla keramik olmadığını, buna karşılık, yayvan ve daha küçük bir höyük olan Höyücek Höyüğü'nde (Bundan sonra Höyücek olarak anılacaktır), çok değişik nitelikli keramik ve önemli bazı eserler bulunduğunu saptadık.
