Osmancık
Erdem · 1985, Sayı 1 · Sayfa: 245-248Famous Turkish author, Tarık Buğra, in his last novel, Osmancık romanticized the life of Osman, the founder of the Ottoman Empire. The author's success in portraying the historical characters in human details is especially worth mentioning. The change of a youth into a statesman is well described both psychologically and physically. While reading the novel one feels himself among those history builders, Turks and Byzantines, friends and foes with ali sort of human experiences- love, loyalty, belief, conflict, war are ali well balanced.
His style is almost epic, and reminds Dede Korkut. But Tarık Buğra is an author who has his own style; that is why the epic style is well combined with his own, enabling the reader to capture the vivid voices of our ancestors.
